1. Isooctane is a standard substance for testing the antiknock performance of gasoline. Isooctane and heptane have octane numbers of 100 and 0, respectively. If the gasoline sample is in a single-cylinder engine, under the specified test conditions, its anti-knock performance is equivalent to a mixture of isooctane-heptane of a certain composition, then the octane number of the sample is equal to the volume of isoisoane in the standard fuel percentage. Good anti-knock performance gasoline with high octane number. Used as a standard fuel for the ***ermination of gasoline octane number. Also used as an additive for motor gasoline and aviation gasoline. It is used as a solvent in the polymerization of butadiene.
